Mission Statement
The Red River Valley Dental Access Project is an oral health coalition that is committed to improve access to oral healthcare by providing an Urgent Care Walk-In Dental Clinic to provide immediate relief of dental pain to low income patients.
Program Update:
Urgent Care Walk-In Dental Clinic
The Urgent Care Walk-In Dental Clinic served 735 patients this year from well over 80 communities. The total donated services were $ 158,514, which is the total procedures that were performed multiplied by the average cost. In light of the increased demand because of the economic climate, we have decided to keep our Urgent Care Dental Director on a permanent basis. Dr. Steidl has done a tremendous job this past year in decreasing referrals to oral surgeons and keeping the hours at a minimum for the volunteer dentists. Having 3 dentists on every Tuesday has made a big difference in being able to see all the patients that come to the clinic and still keep the hours reasonable.
RRVDAP will be seeking additional funding for this position through various grants. We will be looking for $20,000 in grant funding this year. RRVDAP was granted a $25,000 matching grant from Dakota Medical Foundation and will be starting its annual fundraising campaign in November.
How the books look
The Red River Valley Dental Access Project is happy to report that the fiscal year ended on June 30, 2009 with a $6,802.93 surplus. This is due to the continued support of our donors, the Urgent Care patient fees and keeping the numbers down for expenditures. Total program expenses for the year were $70,856.
